Rome, Italy. World Taekwondo has issued an important update to the official outline of the Roma 2026 World Taekwondo Grand Prix, scheduled to take place from June 5 to 7, 2026, in the Italian capital.

The information was communicated by The World Taekwondo Sport & Event Management Department, through an official notice addressed to the parties involved in the event. In the message, the organization informed that the updated Grand Prix outline had been shared and that changes had been made to the schedule for June 3, specifically regarding the times of the Head of Team Meeting and the Team Doctors’ Meeting.

However, the most relevant technical and regulatory update appears in Article 18, which refers to the application of sensor gloves and the alternative judging protocol.

According to the official communication, World Taekwondo had initially planned to introduce the use of sensor gloves at the Roma 2026 World Taekwondo Grand Prix. However, the organization explained that the recognition system has not yet been finalized, meaning that this technology will not be used at the event.

World Taekwondo stated in its communication that, because the recognition system has not been completed, “sensing gloves will not be used for this event, and two Corner Judges will officiate.” In other words, sensor gloves will not be used at this event, and two corner judges will officiate the matches.
