It was announced that Santo Domingo (DR) will host the Taekwondo qualifier for the Cali 2021 Pan American Youth Games. The event will be held in the last days of May and will be organized together with a G category open, which would be one of the first events scheduled by the World Taekwondo Panamerican (WTPA).

The advantage of the Dominican Republic as a host country lies mainly in the fact that Master Francisco Camacho, president of the Dominican Federation, is now the current Minister of Sports of that nation.

Although Camacho is currently on bed rest due to CoVID-19, he was the one who confirmed the news that his country will host this important event.

It is also expected that PATU, which is currently presided by Dr. Helder Navarro, will send detailed information and official invitations to the National Federations.

ADVANTAGES. Another point in favor of the Dominican Republic in the organization of this activity is the easy access through all the roads of America and the experience of the Dominicans in organizing Taekwondo sporting events.

The new generation of youth athletes will have the possibility to look for the quotas that will allow them to be installed in Cali 2021, an event that is part of the calendar of the Olympic route Paris 2024.

TECHNICAL DATA. Athletes from all America will be present in the Dominican Republic for this qualifier in combat competitions (Kyrougy).

Men and women from 17 to 20 years old will dispute the classification in the (08) official Olympic weights.

PANAMERICAN PLUS. The athlete who wins the gold medal in Cali 2021 will have a direct ticket to the Pan American Games in Santiago 2023.
