SPECIAL. The possibility of holding a training camp in South Korea, as a final preparation for the Panamerican Taekwondo qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, as well as an educational project for high performance athletes, are part of the topics planned for the first conference organized by the High Performance Committee and its main advisor Prof. Lee Sun Jang, including the intervention of the Korean congresswoman Lim O Kyeong, triple Olympic medalist, who will be at the conference as guest of honor. 

Also attending this unprecedented event will be the president of the World TKD Panamerican (WTPA), Dr. Helder Navarro, and the Minister of Sports of the Dominican Republic, Mr. Francisco Camacho.

The information was provided by Prof. Philippe Pinerd, president of the High Performance Committee of the WTPA, who explained that this 1st Korea-America Conference will be held on May 7, 2021, «The idea is to envision together the possibility of making a final preparation and acclimatization advance in the motherland of Taekwondo at one (01) hour flight from Japan,» he said.

KOREA OPENS ITS DOORS TO TAEKWONDO OF AMERICA

The WTPA High Performance Committee, seeks that athletes from America have an ideal adaptation before landing in Japan. «The idea is that with real support we have in South Korea the ideal conditions of security for our athletes to have comfort and advantage in their presentations in Tokyo,» added Pinerd.

EDUCATION AND PRESTIGE FOR THE FUTURE

Another topic that will be exposed in the conference moderated by Mundotaekwondo.com, will be the contact with Prof. Lee Sun Jang advisor of the WTPA, and Kukkiwon Task Force Chairman, «with whom we promote to support the athletes of America that when they retire they can have management tools for club administration, knowledge for the traditional teaching of the martial art, and obtain their Danes Kukkiwon», emphasized Pinerd.

The renowned coach thanked Dr. Helder Navarro, president of the World Taekwondo Panamerican, for his confidence, while praising the efforts of the leader to give the best of his experience in this difficult process as it has been to train and organize with pandemic. «Both Navarro and the rest of the coaches and advisors are aware of the difficulties that the athletes are going through in route to Tokyo, since there has not been enough time to compete and get ready for the world’s top competition, the Olympic Games,» the coach noted.
